recent chapters of bleach have gotten me all intrigued (it’s gotten the edge over naruto for my interest lately) so I went back and watched my shitty hong kong boxsets and felt ~inspired~

Ishida Clan
I was hoping someone would post an Ishida boys panel comparison like this. It confirms my thoughts when I saw Ryuuken. As much as they look alike (and even accounting for Kubo giving some of his characters similar facial features), there really is a difference. Even as bishie as Ryuuken is here, you can see he’s a bit a bit more rugged than Uryuu. His chin broader, his jaw is a tad heavier, even his nose is a bit more pronounced.
Uryuu’s features are finer. Ryuuken is hot, no doubt, but Ishida is “prettier” (without being effeminate, I think.) We haven’t seen Souken in this time frame yet, but I suspect we’ll see that Ryuuken takes after his mom, but with his features tempered by his father’s looks. Uryuu also takes after his grandmother, but his looks seem to be tempered by Katagiri (whom we’re all assuming is his mom.) In his fierce, angry moments, Uryuu could be a stand in for Madam Ishida, but he doesn’t have her bitterness (thank god) and his gentle expressions mirror what we’ve seen of Katagiri in this chapter.
I love it when we get to see different generations of characters and you can see how the parents produced the kids that they did. In Isshin’s back story arc, Kubo does not disappoint.
