I am forever upset this friendship was dropped. Where was the coming home Orihime-Tatsuki panel after SS? When Orihime was kidnapped, Tatsuki PUNCHED ICHIGO’S HEAD THROUGH A WINDOW. Yes, that was in part about her issues with Ichigo, but she had been able to feel Orihime’s reiatsu even when she was training in Soul Society. She had this fantastically charged moment with Ichigo about Orihime, and then…
Nothing.
I love the scenes with the Karakura kids and Aizen, but I’ll always be annoyed there wasn’t a few pages to spare for Tatsuki welcoming Orihime home. They haven’t had a significant, emotional moment together since literally this page.
ugh and it was such a wonderful, incredible friendship. The Princess and the Dragon. The reason for Orihime’s long hair. “I’ll beat the shit out of anyone who makes Orihime cry” / “This time, I’ll protect you.”

Most painful crying face = still Ichigo by a long shot, but Isane’s only a few lengths behind.
To be fair I think Orihime’s pretty tears above the dome, when Ichigo’s down— y’know that one gorgeous profile panel— could compete pretty well with Katagiri.

you know. in retrospect, bleach is basically ~*shoujo*~. (◕‿◕✿)
exhibit a: you have the basic hero with tsundere complex (over the heroine, most of the time) and a complicated past (angstangstangstangst).
exhibit b: the typical playful, strong-willed heroine. one of her prime directives throughout the series is to pull the hero out of the constant funks he falls prey to (mostly when she goes away for a while). and be supreme badass 100% of the time.
exhibit c: the ‘beauty queen who harbours one-sided love over the hero’ stereotype. thankfully in orihime’s case, she’s doesn’t fall into the ‘scheming bitch’ category because she’s made of concentrated angeldust.
and to round it up,
exhibit d: the pseudo-antisocial bookish type who secretly adores the beauty queen (but is forever friendzoned because everyone thinks he’s gay)

Orihime, I love you, you’re gorgeous and precious, etc.
But, I hate the new hair. SOMETIMES, I think it still looks cute, like here:
and I’ve never been a fan of the first panel, just thought it always looked a little weird (maybe the shading), much to my woe as a shipper.
SOMETHING ABOUT IT, about her bangs I think, the weird length where they’re kind of in between being bangs and, uh, not bangs. It makes me almost suspect that KT has planned a dramatic hair-cutting scene, ala Sakura from Naruto.
Reasons I wouldn’t think that are:
a) Unlike Sakura, Orihime’s long hair represents something positive (unless she decides that she’s been using her faith in Tatsuki as a crutch but lmfao there’s zero evidence of that, in fact her bond with Tatsuki has sadly taken a backseat to everything else)
and
b) sadly just because I think something looks bad, doesn’t mean it’s going to get fixed/cut. See: Tatsuki’s universally loathed mullet.
But, hey, if it happened, she’d look even MORE like Masaki, which would please some.
