honestly this just reinforces what I’ve long, long felt and wanted to post about
That’s it’s such a HUGE SHAME that Ichigo and Uryuu weren’t friends as kids.
Think about it. Both of them probably suffered because they could see ghosts/Hollows and had no one else their age with…
MUST. DRAW. THIS.
Even if my art is awful as shit.

OKAY WAIT A FUCKING MINUTE
THEY BOTH HAD HAPPY FAMILIES FOR EIGHT YEARS
WHY WEREN’T THEY FRIENDS
The way events resolved themselves likely made the prospect of a relationship between the couples/families too awkward.
Ryuuken surely had regrets for not stepping in and saving Masaki from the Hollow bite, and then there’s the whole “what could have been aspect” that isn’t real conducive to lively dinner conversation. Plus, Masaki’s infection & departure represented a huge blow to the Ishida clan; one they probably didn’t want to be reminded of.
Masaki went off to uni, started dating Isshin, and they made their own life for themselves. Small clinic doctor and Karakura General surgeon/president probably moved in different circles too.
I do wonder though just when Ryuuken gave up the Quincy stuff. Now that we know Katagiri was frail, I doubt he’d have let her go out and “sortie” even if a Shinigami got killed. And if Ryuuken ever went out to take care of Hollows I wonder if he ever ran into Masaki? You know she probably would have waved at him.
We still don’t know the whole story of what happened to the Ishidas so maybe there’s more to tell, but just given what we know, and with Ryuuken being Ryuuken, it was probably easier for everyone to just live their own lives.
Ahhhh, all good points. While it’s sad to think of Ryuuken maintaining absolutely no contact (last Quincy! friendly enough!), he did kick her out in order to “definitively part” with her. Awkward dinnertime conversation indeed.
I do wonder just what Katagiri’s condition was, and for how long. Plus, we don’t know how Ryuuken’s mother died and under what circumstances. Just what caused his animosity toward Souken? It could easily be his failure to be there, but he seems to have his distaste for the Quincy and then a separate disdain for Souken… but that may be reading too much into it, and it may be a culmination of never being there + Souken pushing the Quincy stuff onto his son while knowing Ryuuken opposed it. That’d be more than enough for “that old man.”
Still, it’s such a shame ):

❝Join your brother in arms, my son.❞
yes this guy definitely turned on everybody to sincerely join the nazi quincy
So~ does anyone think that Ishida Uryuu is pulling an Itachi (or a Gin, either way) on us?
Before letting you answer, I shall first indicate reasons why and why not Uryuu could be double-crossing the Vandenreich.

Reasons Why

1 - Tite Kubo enjoys giving us plot-twists which he thinks…
I think there are two points in the “why not” category that I’d disagree with—
Uryuu hasn’t sincerely hated the Shinigami since the beginning. Yes, he treated them as enemies, with killing intent and handicapping, and yes, I do think he might still have mixed feelings there… but aside from Mayuri and those who worked with them, he knows they’re not all bad. He’s worked alongside them on various things, whether borrowing sewing equipment from the 4th division, or fighting with Rukia and Renji. Unless he was made to believe that THEY were the ones responsible for his mother and other things, saying “Uryuu hates Shinigami” doesn’t actually work.
As for Ichigo and Uryuu being rivals, they really… aren’t! It’s funny, because people tend to default assume that, but they’ve never had that Naruto-Sasuke thing going on. They competed only once — when Uryuu was first introduced and being a dumb-ass. Yes, I do think Uryuu likes to show off in front of him. Yes, he wanted Ichigo to see how strong he’d become, and likes to still say they’re enemies, et cetera. But we have not actually EVER seen either one compare themselves to the other. Uryuu has not expressed a need to be BETTER than Ichigo since the beginning. To be stronger than, to compete with him, to actually be a rival. Instead, he’s supported him in his own way, and played lip service to that role in a way that Orihime laughs and easily sees through. That lack of true comparison saved him in some ways, I think, from the Orihime+Chad category they’ve been lumped into, and also their angst about being left behind and not enough. He’s never worried about being ENOUGH for Ichigo, he’s always been an equal even without equal power.
THAT SAID, given ambiguity thusfar and the fact he HAS wanted recognition, I could see him wanting to show off new power. Especially if there’s some brainwashing involved, because I agree — I honestly cannot see Yhwach/Bach BELIEVING that Uryuu’s totally turned without something significant. Yhwach isn’t stupid and has doubtless done his research. Uryuu’s track record speaks for itself.
(ETA: and oh yeah the beginning of this arc set up an obvious Ichigo-Ishida confrontation and doubt as to whether or not they’re really friends, so there’s that.)
I’m just hoping that Urahara, Ryuuken, or Uryuu himself had a method to resist it that will either kick in now or later.

bleach + tearsMost beautiful crying face = Katagiri.
Most painful crying face = still Ichigo by a long shot, but Isane’s only a few lengths behind.
To be fair I think Orihime’s pretty tears above the dome, when Ichigo’s down— y’know that one gorgeous profile panel— could compete pretty well with Katagiri.
but hoo boy yeah ichigo and isane hurt
you know. in retrospect, bleach is basically ~*shoujo*~. (◕‿◕✿)
exhibit a: you have the basic hero with tsundere complex (over the heroine, most of the time) and a complicated past (angstangstangstangst).
exhibit b: the typical playful, strong-willed heroine. one of her prime directives throughout the series is to pull the hero out of the constant funks he falls prey to (mostly when she goes away for a while). and be supreme badass 100% of the time.
exhibit c: the ‘beauty queen who harbours one-sided love over the hero’ stereotype. thankfully in orihime’s case, she’s doesn’t fall into the ‘scheming bitch’ category because she’s made of concentrated angeldust.
and to round it up,
exhibit d: the pseudo-antisocial bookish type who secretly adores the beauty queen (but is forever friendzoned because everyone thinks he’s gay)
HAHAHAHAA! This is adorable!
And probably true.I don’t know who drew the “kindly go away” Uryuu but I love and want it.

THOSE EXPRESSIONS it’s all too cute
chapter 462
I’m sorry (NOT) but can we talk about this moment here? How Orihime is brainwashed into thinking that Ichigo is not her friend and Tsukishima is everything to her? But it is because of HIS TEARS that Tsuki’s hold on her is skewed and she cries because he cries and she only stops when HE stops. And even still, she views Ichigo as an enemy? This solidified what I have ALWAYS said about Orihime, that you can never, EVER screw with her love because it is soul-deep. Her mind may be effed up but never her heart. It transcends lifetimes, what the hell do you think a brainwash can do. She literally cannot function unless he is okay, she cannot focus unless he is shown to be alive and kicking, and it GOES BOTH WAYS. Her devotion is 10+ years real time from chapter freaking 2 to now and it’s selfless as fuck because COME ON, Ichigo doesn’t even see this happening! He doesn’t even know that Orihime is going through this and it doesn’t matter diddly to her, and it NEVER DID, because all she wanted was for him to be okay, not for him to notice her concern. Her love never has, is, and never will be based on what he sees and what he notices and conditions, just stay the hell alive. That’s the only thing and that’s the BEST thing. Excuse me while I fangirl to eternity.3
ahhhh this is going to sound like hate and I’m actually not trying to stir wank, but this moment always confused me… Tsukishima didn’t brainwash her into thinking Ichigo wasn’t her friend. He didn’t replace Ichigo, he just put himself in her life as an important person. Her memories of Ichigo were still the same. Yes, it’s incredibly moving and a testament to her love that she still felt SO STRONGLY for Ichigo, her love was so passionate, that she cried because he cried…
…but why was she surprised she was crying? Why did she forget she loved Ichigo? Tsukishima didn’t replace Ichigo. I don’t get it.
chapter 19: It wasn't just me. Yuzu, Karin and Dad as well loved Mom very much. In other words, she was like the sun of our family. (Ichigo)chapter 536: But she was definitely like the sun. She attracted, forgave, illuminated anything, and controlled as she liked. I was just... happy to be in her mercy. (Isshin)
Ichiruki - Ken’ichi, by Aurora Lynne
Here’s the second one, an Ichiruki with a cameo of Ken’ichi, an OC created by uchihaxairylle, writer of the “Oh My!” fanfiction triology (I love it!). Isn’t he a cutie? Plus, It was delicious to draw papa Ichigo, he looks so protective :) And Rukia is all admired by this lovely family scenario n.n Hope you like it, sweethearts!
I present you the three instances of Kubo making sex jokes in Bleach.
1. Is self-explanatory. Mizuiro spread the rumours about Ichigo and Rukia throughout the school, to the point where people started speculating whether they’re having sex or not.
2. Is more interesting. Credit for the translation goes to dear Nacchan:
Speaking of that scene, the reason why Isshin and Yuzu were blushing like mad while eavesdropping (aside from the fact that Ichigo brought Rukia to his room) is because the conversations between Ichigo and Rukia could be taken wrongly as innuendos if you didn’t hear them clearly (and we know Isshin and Yuzu didn’t since they used cups to eavesdrop):
一護「あそんでねーで、入んならさっさと入れよ」 : “Stop playing around, if you want to enter then just enter” —-> Ichigo’s word doesn’t specify the “room”
ルキア「うむ。この小部屋に入るのも久々だな!」: “Hum, it’s been a long time since I entered this tiny room”
一護「うるせーな、『小』は余計だ!白哉ん家と比べんじゃねーよ!」: “Shut it! Saying it’s TINY is unnecessary! Don’t compare mine with Byakuya’s house” —-> again the word “room” is not used
ルキア「おっ、すまんな。ついうっかり」: “Ah sorry it just comes out/slipped out”
一護「何がうっかりだ…ってコラ!勝手にベッドに座んな!!」 : “What did you mean by slipped out? … Uh HEY!! Don’t just suddenly sit on the BED like it’s yours” (勝手に literally means “as you please” so … yeah)
ルキア「いいではないか心がせまいのう」 : “Why are you making such a fuss? Such a narrow/cramped heart you have”
3. Is infamous. Credit, again, goes to Nacchan:
Tsukkomi | つっこみ (rooted from verb : Tsukkomu| つっこむ) is a Japanese slang word for gag comedy. “Tsukkomi” is generally known in comedy film/shows as someone who plays “straight role” or “always interjects sane comments among the craziness” in the show. Popular example of this is Shimura Shinpachi in Gintama, his role in the show is a “Tsukkomi”, Ichigo is considered Tsukkomi in this scene because he’s always commenting the obvious thing to Kirinji’s bizzare actions (“What are you doing? You’re gonna drown him!!”, “You’re holding him like a red turnip!!”). You can google the word for better explanation. The thing is, “Tsukkomi” literal means is “Injecting / Penetrating”
In the peach panel Kirinji’s exact words are:
そんな桃みたいにってツッコまねえのか?
“Aren’t you gonna tsukkomi she looks like peach?”
“Aren’t you gonna point (out)/inject/penetrate she looks like a peach?”
It’s a double pun.
